Jnanodaya Central School, Chengal, Kalady inaugurated on 2005, is managed by congregation of the Mother of Carmel (CMC). It is a Christian Minority School with all the privileges that accure from such status.
St. Chavara Kuriakose Elias who was a social revolutionist as well as educational reformist, is the founder of CMC and CMI missionary institutes, in our society. he was born in a small village in Keala. From childhood onwards he had dedicated to God and his intentions. He was a man with vision and foresight about education especially of women and children. His ideas about education was far in advance of his time. He was the first who started a printing press in Kerala State as a step towards progress.
Serve the humanity for the love of God, divesting all the worldly pleasures was St. Chavara Kuriakose Elias motto. Through this motto the members of the congregation try to win the souls for God through prayer and service.
Jnanodaya aims at imparting quality education to all. We believe in cultivating habits of piety, self reliance and discipline in the students. Hence particular attention is given to character formation by means of religious and moral instructions.
Students’ participation in School activities is encouraged and facilitated by grouping them into houses and clubs. These are aimed at fostering the genuine interest of the students for team work and their complete formation in the curricular and co-curricular spheres.
The system of education followed in the school is the one taught and practised by St. Chavara Kuriakose Elias. It is based on the fear of God, the formation of personal convictions, prevention of faults and fraternal correction.
CMC Mary Matha Province with its special dedication to education sets forth the charism through education. The total responsibility of running this school rests upon the CMC community, Chengal.
To lead the young to Christ the Light of the world, total development of personality of students helping them to grow emotionally mature, psychologically integrated, physically healthy, socially acceptable and spiritually true citizens of our country.
Jnanodaya tries to create a just and human society where the dignity of human person is respected, where unjust social structures are challenged where our cultural heritage of Ahimsa, National Integration and Religious Harmony are upheld.
" You have done many things for us O Lord our God,Psalm 40:5
There is no one like you!
You have made many wonderful plants for us.
I could never speak of them all-
Their number is so great! "
I am constantly reminded of these words that the psalmist proclaimed whenever I think of the wonderful way that the God has led us guided and protected us through all these years.
To keep the motto “In the light we shall see light”, together with the band of committed staff you’ve not only merely sown the seeds of human values in the hearts of so many students but also promoted to inculcate and imbibe the spirit and aim at, for empowerment to build a better society tomorrow. The promotion of leadership qualities through extra-curricular activities, besides academic excellence is very much visible too. The discipline maintained and opportunities provided for the students to develop the skills utilizing their talents is noteworthy. I implore God Almighty’s blessings on the institution in abundance.
Jnanodaya had a humble beginning. It is like a mustard seed the smallest of all small seeds when planted slowly became a huge tree spending its mighty branches to offer shelter to all those in need. The institution realized the dream of St. Chavara of its service to the students of various kinds – the brilliant and the bright, the poor and the lovely, the lively and the weak. It has served thousands of students who not only excelled in their academic achievement but built up their own sound values and brought towards to themselves.
May God Almighty bless all those associated with the school and may He sustain your efforts to take this institution to greater pinnacles of success.
Give thanks to the Lord because He is good and His love is eternalPsalms 118: 1
